Hello there, I'm Kennedy Cottrell, a 29-year-old photographer calling Chicago, IL my home. My journey kicked off at the University of Arkansas School of Journalism and Strategic Media, where I dove headfirst into the world of storytelling through images and words. I graduated with a BA in Journalism/copywriting in 2018.
I moved to Denver for a few years after graduating college.
After bidding farewell to the Rocky Mountain charm of Denver, CO following three fulfilling years, I found myself drawn to the bustling streets of Chicago. Those Denver days were filled with a plethora of photo projects, including the exciting task of documenting Meow Wolf's captivating exhibits from start to finish, culminating in their grand unveiling in August 2021.
My lens has also been trained on the vibrant scenes of 303 Magazine, Do303, and Ultra 5280, where I've contributed as a staff photographer. Additionally, I've ventured into the digital realm with HVNLY Media, an online magazine I founded, where I wear the hats of both writer and photographer. Curious minds can explore our work at hvnlymedia.com and catch glimpses of our endeavors on Instagram.
With a strong suit in creative photography and design, I've carved out a niche for myself in the freelance world. From the adrenaline rush of ESPN X Games to the serene beauty of weddings, I thrive on capturing the essence of diverse experiences.
My portfolio boasts collaborations with esteemed artists and festivals such as Lollapalooza, Vans Warped Tour, Pitchfork Music Festival, Riot Fest, and Pride in the Park. Beyond the click of the shutter, I bring expertise in web design, social media content production, copywriting, product photography, and aerial cinematography.
Looking for a collaborator to bring your vision to life? Whether it's tours, concerts, real estate ventures, architectural marvels, event coverage, or portraits, I'm here to lend my expertise.
